What happens if there is a hailstorm or fire?

In the event of a hailstorm or fire, and your solar panels become damaged, it is important to contact us as soon as possible. We will be able to assess the damage and determine if there is a warranty that can cover the repairs.

Keep in mind, solar panels nowadays are designed to withstand severe weather conditions and are tested to international standards.

Do you guarantee performance?

The solar modules are supplied with a manufacturer's product warranty and peak power warranty.

Go Sunny may, at its discretion offer one of the following remedies in the event of a successful claim against the module performance warranty:

1) to replace the defective module/s
2) refund the percentage of the cost of the module to the customer representing the percentage of the power output less than 80% of the nameplate power rating.

In South Australia, we endeavour to but are not bound by its commitment to rectify any fault within 14 days of notification.

What am I covered for if things go wrong?

Go Sunny guarantees a minimum of 10 years of free repair and replacement, with no labour cost, on your whole system and installation (unless otherwise stipulated in writing and agreed upon by the homeowner).

How long is my solar panel system covered under warranty?

The solar panel manufacturer will have a 12-25 year product warranty for replacement panels, with a 25-year performance warranty.

The inverter manufacturer typically covers your warranty for 10 years.

The installation warranty and workmanship warranty are 10 years.

What is the difference between a product warranty and a solar panel performance warranty?

A solar panel product warranty covers the physical integrity of the solar panel itself and provides protection against manufacturing defects and any premature wear and tear. Our panels come with a 15-25 year product warranty. Solar panel warranties are backed locally in Australia by their representative head office locally and/or the wholesaler and supplier.

Panels come with a further 25 years linear performance warranty ensuring the output does not degrade at an accelerating rate. A solar panel performance warranty covers minimum output and production levels over the warranty period. Our solar panels guarantee over 80% of the original rated output after 25 years. Another way to look at this is that panels should not degrade or diminish efficiency by more than 0.7% per year.

An inverter warranty will cover the functionality of an inverter, and our inverters come with a 10-year warranty.

Maintenance

What if my system is generating less power than expected?

Our figures are based on very conservative estimates. Therefore, our average customer generally saves more than 35% than quoted. However, there are a number of factors that can impact the performance of your solar panels, including shading, dust and dirt build-up, and panel orientation.

In addition, our estimates do not take into account the use of a solar battery, as this can further increase your savings.

How do I know if my system is generating the expected power?

All Go Sunny systems come with WIFI monitoring as an included feature, and a dedicated app for your phone or tablet, so you can keep a close eye on how much power your system is making. This setup is done for you or with you on installation or in some cases we may assist with your setup by phone call following installation.

Does my system need any ongoing maintenance?

Solar systems are designed to be low-maintenance, however, you can regularly use the WIFI Monitoring app that comes with your Go Sunny Solar system to ensure it is operating at its peak efficiency. Solar systems generally don’t require much cleaning or maintenance, as the rain is usually able to wash off any debris built up.

How do I get connected to the grid?

Your energy retailer owns your meter and the authority to make any connections to accurately measure used or exported energy. After installation is complete, your energy retailer will receive the request for meter changeover (replacement or reprogram), and are responsible for completing this portion and the associated connection to the grid (and commencement/activation of solar system) within 15 business days.

Depending on the metering setup at your property, this may take a day or two if possible to be done remotely. Or it can take several weeks for a full replacement, especially if regional, and access is limited or the retailer has backlog.
